Make Yourself™ Cleaning - DIY Dirt-Busting!

Caustic Soda (also known as Soda Lye or sodium hydroxide) for soap  making or many other uses.

Caution - strong alkali, highly corrosive to skin and eyes, especially when dissolved in water at high strength.
Always handle with care, wearing eye protection, gloves and full length pants and shirt.  Avoid eye and skin contact.

Sodium hydroxide is frequently used as an industrial cleaning agent. It is added to water, heated, and then used to clean process equipment, storage tanks, etc. It can dissolve grease, oils, fats and protein based deposits. It is also used for cleaning waste discharge pipes under sinks and drains in domestic properties.

It is also the chemical that induces saponification with fats and oils to create soap (when mixed with appropriate measures of water this is known as lye).
